#TheReadingQuest Wrap-Up

Hello my lovely readers! A couple of days ago was the last day of #TheReadingQuest, which is a reading challenge I participated in that was created by Aentee over at Read at Midnight.

For this challenge, I selected the pathway of the knight, but unfortunately, I did not complete my challenge as I hoped I would. I completed only three of my five challenges on the knight pathway, plus one side quest.

I expected to get through way more than only four books, but back to school season was even more hectic than usual this year and sadly, I had very little time to read as a result. Also, the last two challenges I had to do for the knight were a book with a weapon on the cover and a book with a movie/TV adaptation. I had very few options for books that fit these prompts, and I just wasn’t in the mood for any of them. I am very much of a mood reader, so I’m thinking that reading challenges with very specific TBRs aren’t for me.

Despite the fact that I didn’t do as well as I had hoped and expected, I still had a lot of fun participating in the challenge, especially because of all the other wonderful readers and bloggers that I met and chatted about books with. As a new blogger, I really appreciate the great opportunities this reading challenge had! Continue reading “#TheReadingQuest Wrap-Up”

Review: The Collector (Dante Walker #1)

Hello readers!

Today I have my review for the first book I read for #TheReadingQuest. This book applied to the prompt of reading the first book in a series.

I started off with 10 EXP, and I just added another 10 EXP for completing this book, putting me at a total of 20 EXP, meaning that I am still at Level 1.
I began with 10 HP, and I just gained another 35 HP for reading 352 pages, so I now have a total of 45 HP!

The Collector by Victoria Scott
Series: Dante Walker #1
Genre: Young Adult – Paranormal, Fantasy, Romance
Pages: 352
Publication Date: April 2013
My Rating: 3 of 5 stars
Read August 2017

Goodreads Synopsis:

He makes good girls…bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.
Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:
Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.
Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

Reading Challenge: #TheReadingQuest Sign Up and TBR

Hey everyone! I randomly stumbled upon this super cool reading challenge that’s being hosted by Aentee over at Read at Midnight, and I thought that it looked amazing! I have always wanted to participate in a readathon of sorts, but I’ve never really had anywhere to post my progress and communicate with others easily. I am so excited to finally have the opportunity, and this particular readathon looks like so much fun! I also think that it will be a great way to meet and communicate with more people in this wonderful community of bookworms!

The quest kicks off this Sunday, August 13th, and ends on Sunday, September 10th.

The challenge is based on a video game quest and is in the format of a bingo card, with each bingo square being a reading prompt to complete. The fun twist is that you must choose one of four character classes to be, and follow that specific path on the bingo board.

The character that I have selected is the knight, so I will be following that path on the bingo board. Hopefully, I will also be completing some of the bonus challenges, which are the blue prompts on the center of the board.
