12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

Merry Christmas!, my lovely readers! I hope you are all enjoying the holidays!
I know it’s been a while (my semester was extremely busy, but I am officially half way done my post-secondary education), but this morning I’m back with a fun Christmas themed book tag!
This tag was originally created by Lizzie Loves Books.
Hope you enjoy!!

“On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.”
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favorite stand alone?

I love a good stand-alone novel, so it’s very challenging to pick just one! For this reason, I’m just going to select a random one that I love: You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. I read this book last year, and it was one of the most fun and unique romances I’ve ever experienced.
See my review of You Deserve Each Other here.

“On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.”
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

I am also a massive fan of a good romance, so choosing just one couple is nearly impossible for me! Again, I’m going to select a couple that I adore. Josh and Hazel are the perfect friends-to-lovers and opposites attract story, they made a wonderful couple!
See my review of Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating here.

“On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.”
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I think I’ve read a fair few excellent trilogies in the last several years, but my very favourite would probably have to be The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.
See my review of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1) here.

“On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.”
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

As I’m sure it’s no surprise, I’ve gotta go with Lux. Have I ever made it through a book tag without bringing up this series? It’s just too darn good!
See my review of Obsidian (Lux #1) here.

“On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.”
One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

256683._SY475_
Hands down, Sebastian Morgenstern of The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I thought that he was incredibly well-developed character, and I really enjoyed reading about him!

“On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.”
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Hogwarts, and the Wizarding World in general, is so near and dear to my heart. If I had the ability to visit any fictional world, it would have to be this one.

“On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.”
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

Honestly, I can’t think of many books with characters who have animal sidekicks, unless Hedwig counts.

“On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.”
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

38739562
This is a tough one, but I think I’d have to go with With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acedevo! As an aspiring chef, Emoni cooked so many delicious foods, many of which I had never heard of before, but would love to try.
See my review of With the Fire on High here.

“On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.”
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

9680718
I honestly have so many, but I think that Alex from Covenant would have to top the list. I will forever admire her bravery and incredible skills in combat.
See my review of Half-Blood (Covenant #1) here.

“On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.”
How about your favourite leading lad?

28187

It’s too hard to pick just one – I have so many favourites! This time I’ll go with my dearest Percy Jackson of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all the other books in the Rick Riordan universe. I always have the absolute time of my life with Percy’s hilarious narration, and he is also an incredibly wholesome person.

“On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.”
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

40520251._SY475_
Yet again, it’s hard to pick, but I have to go with Daisy Jones and the Six for this one! I was absolutely enthralled by this story, and the musical aspect was so well done.
See my review of Daisy Jones and the Six here.

“On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.”
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

Hands-fricking-down, The Way I Used to Be by Aber Smith. This book was beautifully written, very emotional, and entirely unforgettable.
See my review of The Way I Used to Be here.

That’s a wrap on the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag! Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season! See you again next time!
