Review: Fall With Me

Hello, hello, my lovely readers!! I hope you’re all doing well! ❤
This morning, I’m here with a review of Fall With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I really enjoyed the first book in her Wait for You series, but I think that the rest of the books in the series are increasingly worse in quality. I’ve already vowed that I wouldn’t read any more books in the series after the third book, but unfortunately, I really just can’t help myself sometimes. After finishing the book, I deeply regret my decision to pick up this installment.
Happy reading!! 😉

Fall With You by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Genre: New Adult – Contemporary, Romance, Mystery
Series: Wait for You #4
Pages: 389
Publication Date: March 2015
My Rating: 1.5 of 5 stars
Read July 2021

Goodreads Synopsis:
Eleven months ago, bartender and weird-shirt-wearing extraordinaire Roxy and Officer Reece Anders had a one night stand. Well, kind of. She’s been in love with him since she was fifteen, and he wishes that night they shared never happened. She’s sworn him off forever, but the past and future collide, forcing her to rely on the one man who broke her heart not once, but twice.
Her best friend since birth has been in a long-term care facility since he became a victim of a hate crime years ago, and the person who put him in there is out of prison and wanting to make amends with him and Roxy. She’s not sure she has room for forgiveness in her and when she begins to receive frightening messages and is on the receiving end of escalating violence, she thinks she knows who is to blame. The man who already destroyed one life already.
But Reece isn’t convinced. The threats are too personal, and even if Roxy doesn’t believe him, he’s not willing to let anyone hurt her. Including himself. He’s already messed up more than once when it comes to Roxy and he’s not going to let history repeat itself.

Review: Layla

Good afternoon!! I hope you’re all doing well.

After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.
Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Review: Verity

Good evening and happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a fantastic day! ❤
Tonight I’m back with a review of my second Colleen Hoover standalone, Verity. It was a very twisted and unique story that I flew right through.
Happy reading!!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Pages: 324
Publication Date: December 2018
My Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.
Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.
A standalone romantic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover.

Good morning and happy Friday!! I hope you all had a fantastic week! ❤
Today I’m back with a review for my latest read from my favourite author, Jennifer L. Armentrout! This definitely wasn’t my favourite of her books, but it was an enjoyable story overall.
Happy reading! 🙂

It’s Ella’s senior year of high school and she and her best friend Linds plan to make it the best year ever. At Brock Cochran’s end of summer pool party, the girls vow to have as much fun as possible before they head off to different colleges next fall. But when Ella is mysteriously attacked on her way home from the party, everything changes. Ella’s carefree senior year plans disintegrate as she finds herself at the center of an attempted murder investigation.
Ella tries to move on, but her attacker isn’t done yet. He shows himself in the form of horrifying signs and symbols: a clown mask strewn on her bed, a dead bird in her backpack, a shadow moving past her window in the night. And as the weeks pass, it turns out that Ella isn’t the only one being tormented.
With the help of an old flame, Jensen Carver, and her friends and family, Ella tries to attain some sense of normalcy, but she can’t seem to shake the feeling that there’s a dark pattern hidden in the killer’s every move. Suddenly, even those in her innermost circle seem suspicious. In her seemingly safe West Virginia town, Ella starts to wonder who she can trust.

First Lines Fridays #14

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a lovely week. I’ve been super busy with school and midterms, but everything’s been going well so far and I am so happy to be back with another post.
Hope you enjoy!! 😀

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words.
What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

When I heard Bea chant the words, it was as if little insects were crawling in under my spine, ready to change it. I was going to crack and bend, become something other. Our temples were sweating under our masks, but we didn’t take them off. It felt like they had become part of our skins.

And the book is…… Continue reading “First Lines Fridays #14”

Well, it’s that time of the week again! Time for another First Lines Friday!
Enjoy!! 😉

What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

It always feels like death. At least at first. Your muscles stretch and burn until they might rip. The bones in your hips threaten to rotate right out of their sockets. Your spine lengthens and twists into impossible shapes. The veins in your arms swell, blood pulsing though them. Your fingers tremble as you try to hold them taut but graceful, just so. Your toes jam into a pretty pink box, battering your feet with constellations of blisters and bruises.

And the book is…… Continue reading “First Lines Fridays #7”

Review: Bad Girls with Perfect Faces

Happy Wednesday! I hope you’ve all been having an awesome week so far.
Today I’ve got a review for a wild ride of a book, Bad Girls with Perfect Faces. This was the first book I read for The Reading Rush. I didn’t actually make a TBR for the readathon because I’m a mood reader and no matter how hard I try, I just never stick to them. This book fulfilled the prompt of a title with five or more words. Hope you enjoy!! 😀

Bad Girls with Perfect Faces by Lynn Weingarten
Genre:
Young Adult – Contemporary, Mystery, Thriller
Pages: 320
Publication Date: October 2017
My Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Read July 2019

Goodreads Synopsis:
When I looked up, his smile was wide and real. “Ready?” he said.
I faked a smile back. I had gotten so good at faking things.
I thought: You brought this on yourself, Sasha. You will have to pretend forever now.
He squeezed my hand again. He couldn’t begin to imagine what this actually was. He had no idea what I’d done. What any of us had.

When Sasha’s best friend Xavier gets back together with his cheating ex, Ivy, Sasha knows she needs to protect him. So she poses as a guy online to lure Ivy away.
But Sasha’s plan goes sickeningly wrong. And she soon learns to be careful of who you pretend to be because you might be surprised by who you become…
