12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

Merry Christmas!, my lovely readers! I hope you are all enjoying the holidays!
I know it’s been a while (my semester was extremely busy, but I am officially half way done my post-secondary education), but this morning I’m back with a fun Christmas themed book tag!
This tag was originally created by Lizzie Loves Books.
Hope you enjoy!!

“On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.”
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favorite stand alone?

I love a good stand-alone novel, so it’s very challenging to pick just one! For this reason, I’m just going to select a random one that I love: You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. I read this book last year, and it was one of the most fun and unique romances I’ve ever experienced.
See my review of You Deserve Each Other here.

“On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.”
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

I am also a massive fan of a good romance, so choosing just one couple is nearly impossible for me! Again, I’m going to select a couple that I adore. Josh and Hazel are the perfect friends-to-lovers and opposites attract story, they made a wonderful couple!
See my review of Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating here.

“On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.”
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I think I’ve read a fair few excellent trilogies in the last several years, but my very favourite would probably have to be The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.
See my review of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1) here.

“On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.”
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

As I’m sure it’s no surprise, I’ve gotta go with Lux. Have I ever made it through a book tag without bringing up this series? It’s just too darn good!
See my review of Obsidian (Lux #1) here.

“On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.”
One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

256683._SY475_
Hands down, Sebastian Morgenstern of The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. I thought that he was incredibly well-developed character, and I really enjoyed reading about him!

“On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.”
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

Hogwarts, and the Wizarding World in general, is so near and dear to my heart. If I had the ability to visit any fictional world, it would have to be this one.

“On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.”
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

Honestly, I can’t think of many books with characters who have animal sidekicks, unless Hedwig counts.

“On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.”
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

38739562
This is a tough one, but I think I’d have to go with With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acedevo! As an aspiring chef, Emoni cooked so many delicious foods, many of which I had never heard of before, but would love to try.
See my review of With the Fire on High here.

“On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.”
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

9680718
I honestly have so many, but I think that Alex from Covenant would have to top the list. I will forever admire her bravery and incredible skills in combat.
See my review of Half-Blood (Covenant #1) here.

“On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.”
How about your favourite leading lad?

28187

It’s too hard to pick just one – I have so many favourites! This time I’ll go with my dearest Percy Jackson of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all the other books in the Rick Riordan universe. I always have the absolute time of my life with Percy’s hilarious narration, and he is also an incredibly wholesome person.

“On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.”
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

40520251._SY475_
Yet again, it’s hard to pick, but I have to go with Daisy Jones and the Six for this one! I was absolutely enthralled by this story, and the musical aspect was so well done.
See my review of Daisy Jones and the Six here.

“On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.”
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

Hands-fricking-down, The Way I Used to Be by Aber Smith. This book was beautifully written, very emotional, and entirely unforgettable.
See my review of The Way I Used to Be here.

That’s a wrap on the 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag! Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season! See you again next time!
XO, Daniella

The Birthday Book Tag: I’m Turning 20!

Happy Sunday, my lovely readers! I hope you’re all having a beautiful weekend!

This morning I’m here with a super fun Book Tag to celebrate my 20th birthday this week!
Ahh, I still can’t believe that I’m entering my twenties. This is my last weekend as a teenager!
To celebrate, I’m going to do The Birthday Book Tag, which was originally created a few years ago by Antonia @ Always Books.

I hope you enjoy! If your birthday is coming up (or you just want a fun tag), then I encourage you to join in!

Birthday Cake – A book with a plot that seems cliché but you adore it anyway

That’s a fun question! I’m going to choose Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The Lux series definitely has a strong cheese factor and some clichés, but it is without a doubt one of my favourite series!
Click here to see my review of Obsidian (Lux #1).

Party Guests — Your most anticipated book release for this year

My most anticipated release for 2021 actually already came out, and that was Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle. After how much I loved her debut novel, I couldn’t have possibly been more excited for Twice Shy. I was lucky enough to read the book a couple of months ago, and while I did enjoy it, the book was not quite everything I dreamed it would be.
Click here to see my review of Twice Shy.

Tag: Fall Time Cozy Book Tag

Happy first day of October, everyone! I hope you’re all having a fantastic day so far! In celebration of the autumn season, I thought that I would do the Fall Cozy Book Tag! ❤
I wasn’t actually tagged for this, but I LOVE book tags, and decided to do it to celebrate the first day of the month. I’m not exactly sure who originally created this tag, but if you happen to know, please let me know so that I can give them credit.
Let’s get started – I hope you enjoy!!
🙂

1. Crunching Leaves: The world is full of colour. Choose a book that has reds, oranges and yellows on the cover.

I was so thrilled when they re-designed all of Sarah Dessen’s book covers several years ago, because these ones are stunning! What Happened to Goodbye is definitely one of my favourites of the covers, even if this wasn’t one of my favourite stories of hers!

See my review of What Happened to Goodbye here.

2. Cozy Sweater: It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

40495957._SY475_

These graphic novels are BY FAR some of the cutest stories that I have ever read – they definitely gave me the warm fuzzies and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!!

My Blog’s Name in Books Tag

Good evening, everyone! I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy! ❤
Today I’m back with a really fun tag using books from your Goodreads TBR to spell out the name of your blog. I have a massive TBR on Goodreads with over 800 books, so I don’t think I’ll have a hard time completing this challenge! Hope you enjoy!! 🙂

This awesome tag was originally created by Fictionophile!

Here are the rules:
1.  Spell out your blog’s name.
2. Find a book from your TBR that begins with each letter. You cannot add to your TBR to complete this challenge – the books must already be on your Goodread’s TBR!
3. Have fun!

Anyone is welcome to use the graphic as long as they link back to their page: Fictionophile

Without further ado, here is my blog’s name in book titles: Continue reading “My Blog’s Name in Books Tag”

Tag: Cake Flavoured

Happy World Baking Day, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying your weekend!
To celebrate, I thought that it would be fun to do the Cake Flavoured Book Tag!

I hope you enjoy!!! ❤

1) CHOCOLATE CAKE – A dark book you absolutely love

Oh, I will have to go with the Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin. This is a dark thriller, but it is absolutely phenomenal.
11408650
See my review of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer here.

2) VANILLA CAKE – A light read

For this one I’m going to say 10 Blind Dates! I actually just finished this book a few days ago, but light, sweet, and fun are the very best ways to describe it!!
43885673
See my review of 10 Blind Dates here.

3) RED VELVET – A book that gave you mixed emotions

Turtles All the Way Down definitely left me conflicted. I enjoyed the writing style and I liked and related to the protagonist, but the plot was so BORING!
35504431._SY475_
See my review of Turtles All the Way Down here.

4) CHEESECAKE – A book you would recommend to anyone

This is a really tough one because I don’t think there is any one book that suits every reader’s taste. However, I feel like Harry Potter is a versatile modern classic that can be enjoyed by almost anybody!
3._SY475_

5) COFFEE CAKE – A book you started but never finished

I never ended up completing The Bane Chronicles. I was very excited to read this way back when, but most of the stories that I read bored me and after putting it down once, I simply didn’t want to pick it back up.
16303287

6) CARROT CAKE – A book with great writing

I absolutely loved the writing in The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout! She is my favourite author for a reason.
26721568
See my review of The Problem With Forever here.

7) TIRAMISU – A book that left you wanting more

I’m forever craving more of Daemon and Katy, so the Lux series definitely left me wanting more.
12578077[1]
See my review of Obsidian (Lux #1) here.
See my review of  Onyx (Lux #2) here.
See my review of Opal (Lux #3) here.
See my review of Origin (Lux #4) here.
See my review of Opposition (Lux #5) here.

8) CUPCAKES – A series with 4+ books

There are practically endless options here, but I’m going to say Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan, just because I feel like I don’t talk about how much I love those books nearly enough! I am so excited for it to become a television series n Disney+!!
28187

9) FRUIT CAKE – A book that wasn’t what you anticipated

This is an easy one: The Unrequited by Saffron A. Kent. I was expecting a dark thriller/romance, but I got a disturbing romance that I couldn’t even finish reading.
34839067._SY475_
See my review of The Unrequited here.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them?
Are they on your TBR?

Easter Time Book Tag

Good morning and happy Easter to those who celebrate! I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend filed with love despite these unfortunate circumstances. ❤
To thought it would be really fun to do a festive little book tag and I settled on this one. I hope you enjoy!! 😉

Rules:

  • Answer the prompts.
  • Tag some friends.
  • Link back to this post, and be sure to mention the creator (Theresa @ The Calico Books)
  • Have fun!

Ah, there are so, so many books I could talk about for this one!
I’m going to say Kill The Boy Band, which I see people in the book community talk about occasionally, but not nearly enough. It is a fun, hilarious, and thoroughly entertaining read that it relatable (on some levels) for any fangirl. I also recently reread this book via audio book and it was absolutely fantastic. The narrator did such a great performance, she honestly deserved an Oscar, so if you’re interested in picking this one up (which you definitely should), the physical and audio book are both wonderful options!

25184383

You can see my review of Kill the Boy Band here.

Not After Everything by Michelle Levy is one of my all-time favourite books. This is the first, and so far, the only book that she has had published. I really, really hope that it isn’t her last. This novel was an incredible and super underrated debut, and I would love to see what else Michelle Levy could come up with!!

18520658

For this, I have to go with the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout! This series is one of my all-time favourites and I never wanted it to end – I could read 800 books about Katy and Daemon. Unfortunately, I only got five. 😦
Thankfully, JLA did create a spin-ff series about Luc, which I was so excited about that I literally cried when I heard the news. However, I didn’t end up loving the first book as much as I anticipated and I still haven’t continued on with the series, but I plan on giving the first book another go and reading the sequel very soon!

12578077[1]

You can see my reviews of the Lux series here:
Obsidian (Lux #1)
Onyx (Lux #2)
Opal (Lux #3)
Origin (Lux #4)
Opposition (Lux #5)

Well, considering the fact that I genuinely cannot remember the last time that I purchased a book at full price, I’ve bought the vast majority of my books for super cheap – most of them were less than $5! However, a cheap book that I felt like I got the best deal on was my copy of We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. I found a gorgeous signed, deluxe/collector’s edition of the book at Indigo for only $3.33!! I’ve still yet to read the book, but I’m amazed by the incredible price, especially because it was signed by the author!

32981914. sy475

I thought that the anthology Meet Cute: Some People are Destined to Meet was super sweet! While I can’t necessarily say that I loved every story in here, many of them were absolutely adorable and sweeter than sugar!

33503607You can see my review of Meet Cute here.

There are so many books that I could pick for this one, but I’m going to go with The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I read this book at a time in my life when I really, really need it. I related to Charlie on such a strong level is honestly scared me at times. I have reread the book several times, but it leaves an imprint every single time.

22628

For this prompt I have to go with one of my favourite series ever, The Mara Dyer series! This series is filled with so many thrilling twists and shocking turns that it made my head spin, but in the very best way possible!
I recommend these books all the time! If you’re a fan of YA mystery/thriller, paranormal romances, please do yourself a favor and read this series ASAP!!

11408650

You can see my review of the third book in the series, The Retribution of Mara Dyer, here.

I’m not going to tag anybody specific, but if you do decide to join in on the fun, let me know so I can check out your answers!

Stay safe and healthy, and have a great day! 🙂
HAPPY EASTER!! ❤

Tag: Get To Know Me

Good evening everybody, and happy last day of summer! I can’t believe that it’s over already!

A few weeks ago, I was tagged by the ever-so-wonderful Heather at Books, Trust & Pixie Dust to do the Get To Know Me tag, which I am incredibly excited about!

I had originally wanted this post to come out a few days ago, but school has been absolutely insane and I just haven’t had the chance. I’m hoping to get a better feel for the semester and figure out how to balance everything soon, but thank you all so much for bearing with me while I get this all sorted out.
