Review: Dear Heartbreak

Happy Thursday! I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy. ❤
This morning I’m back with a review of Dear Heartbreak, a non-fiction anthology written by a group of YA authors.
I hope you enjoy! 😉

Dear Heartbreak by Heather Demetrios (and others)
Genre: Young Adult – Anthology, Non-Fiction
Pages: 304
Publication Date: December 2018
My Rating: 2.75 of 5 stars
Read December 2020

Goodreads Synopsis:
This is a book about the dark side of love: the way it kicks your ass, tears out your heart, and then forces you to eat it, bite by bloody bite. If you’ve felt this way, you’re not alone…
In this powerful collection, YA authors answer real letters from teens all over the world about the dark side of love: dating violence, break-ups, cheating, betrayals, and loneliness. This book contains a no-holds-barred, raw outpouring of the wisdom these authors have culled from mining their own hearts for the fiction they write. Their responses are autobiographical, unflinching, and filled with love and hope for the anonymous teen letter writers.
Featuring Adi Alsaid, Becky Albertalli, Libba Bray, Heather Demetrios, Amy Ewing, Zach Fehst, Gayle Forman, Corey Ann Haydu, Varian Johnson, A.S. King, Nina LaCour, Kim Liggett, Kekla Magoon, Sarah McCarry, Sandhya Menon, Cristina Moracho, Jasmine Warga, and Ibi Zoboi.

Review: Meet Cute: Some People Are Destined to Meet

Good morning, good morning!! I hope you’re all doing well.
Today I have a review for a really cute anthology written by a group of very talented young adult authors. I’ve been slowly working my way through these stories since January of last year, and I had so much fun doing so. There’s nothing like a short and sweet love story to put me in a good mood!
Hope you enjoy!! 🙂

Meet Cute: Some People Are Destined to Meet by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Dhonielle Clayton,  Katie Cotugno, Jocelyn DaviesNina LaCour, Emery Lord, Katharine McGee, Kass Morgan, Meredith RussoSara ShepardNicola YoonIbi ZoboiJulie Murphy
Genre: Young Adult – Romance, Anthologies
Pages: 314
Publication Date: January 2018
My Rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Read March 2020

Goodreads Synopsis:
Whether or not you believe in fate, or luck, or love at first sight, every romance has to start somewhere. MEET CUTE is an anthology of original short stories featuring tales of “how they first met” from some of today’s most popular YA authors.
Readers will experience Nina LaCour’s beautifully written piece about two Bay Area girls meeting via a cranky customer service Tweet, Sara Shepard’s glossy tale about a magazine intern and a young rock star, Nicola Yoon’s imaginative take on break-ups and make-ups, Katie Cotugno’s story of two teens hiding out from the police at a house party, and Huntley Fitzpatrick’s charming love story that begins over iced teas at a diner. There’s futuristic flirting from Kass Morgan and Katharine McGee, a riveting transgender heroine from Meredith Russo, a subway missed connection moment from Jocelyn Davies, and a girl determined to get out of her small town from Ibi Zoboi. Jennifer Armentrout writes a sweet story about finding love from a missing library book, Emery Lord has a heartwarming and funny tale of two girls stuck in an airport, Dhonielle Clayton takes a thoughtful, speculate approach to pre-destined love, and Julie Murphy dreams up a fun twist on reality dating show contestants.
This incredibly talented group of authors brings us a collection of stories that are at turns romantic and witty, epic and everyday, heartbreaking and real.
