Quote Corner #27: With the Fire On High

Happy Tuesday! I can’t believe that this is my last Quote Corner of the month already!
I’m so excited to be sharing some of my favourite quotes from this lovely book today!! ❤
It’s also worth mentioning that this book has the most beautiful cover ever!! I borrowed a copy from the library when I read it, but I am incredibly excited to buy my very own copy to add to my personal library someday!
Happy reading!! 🙂

I feel like I’m being pulled in a hundred different directions and my feet are stuck in cement.

The world is a turntable that never stops spinning; as humans we merely choose the tracks we want to sit out and the ones that inspire us to dance.

And I know the past isn’t a mirror image of the future, but it’s a reflection of what can be; and when your first love breaks your heart, the shards of that can draw blood for a long, long time.

I’ve had a lot of things to feel ashamed about and I’ve learned most of them are other people’s problems, not mine.

I read With the Fire On High last summer and I loved it!! It’s a really sweet contemporary novel about a young girl with a passion for cooking! It included strong character development, a gorgeous writing style, a sweet romance, and lots and lots of yummy food!!
I also loved the fact that the protagonist in this novel is a teen mother because this is the first time that I had ever read a book that featured a teen mother without the plot of the book centering around the pregnancy. It just smoothly blended into the character’s backstory; it gave a really interesting and unique perspective, which was so refreshing.
