Quote Corner #7: I’ll Meet You There

Good morning and happy Tuesday!! I hope you’ve all been enjoying your week so far. ❤
Today I’m back with another weekly set of quotes. I selected I’ll Meet You There, a book that I absolutely adore, but I rarely hear anything about!! As you will see, the writing is fantastic!
Happy reading! 😉

It gave me hope: if you could make a beautiful piece of art from discarded newspapers and old matchbooks, then it meant that everything had potential. And maybe people were like collages–no matter how broken or useless we felt, we were an essential part of the whole. We mattered.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?” I opened my mouth to say San Francisco or maybe Madrid—somewhere exotic. But what came out was, “Here. Right here.

When the store was empty again, I buried my head in my hands. I hadn’t realized how much Josh had been helping me get through the summer until he wasn’t there anymore. I wanted him to ask me how the Sky was. And then I wanted him to make it stop raining.

This book involves a romance between two teens who work at a motel together, one of whom just returned from the Marines after losing his leg. It was a powerful and stunning story.
Heather Demetrios is definitely one of the most underrated YA authors out there. I’ve only read two of her books, but they both touched me in unimaginable ways. The writing is nothing short of phenomenal. It was beautiful, moving, and super memorable. I think about these books all the time and I really can’t wait re-read her books in the future. I would highly recommend checking them out!
